NEW LOOK FOR LIBRARY WEB SITE

by Jeff Broude

The CSUDH Library Web Site has a new look and a number of new
features. The web site can be accessed at:    http://library.csudh.edu

The Library strongly supports the concept of a uniform appearance
for all CSUDH web sites. In order to provide a look in keeping with the
official University Web Page the Library made four fundamental changes:

  • the basic color scheme was modified to place heavier emphasis
on maroon against a white background, which is  prominent on
    the campus main web site.
  • all pages on the Library Web Site now utilize the campus logo as a background water mark.
  • the campus web site's clickable oblong maroon buttons were incorporated into the Library  Web Site
  • a banner similar to that of the campus site now appears at the
top of all pages on the Library Web Site.

New features on the Library Web Site include:

  • Site Search Function --
A search engine specific to the Library Web Site is provided. By entering
keywords or concepts (e.g. Journals) a user is provided with a list of
pertinent web pages within the Library Web Site.
  •   Web Site Index --
A detailed index is now available which provides multiple access  points
for all of the features available on the Library Web Site. The index  will
be especially helpful in  providing access to those  concepts or terms
which are not  readily apparent from a visual  inspection of the Web Site.
  • Ask a Librarian Feature --
An online question/inquiry form is now available for those instances where
a user is unable to find information being sought. A Librarian will normally
respond to the inquiry within 24 hours.
  • Text Only Version of Web Site --

Primarily intended for the visually impaired, this is a parallel version  of the
    Library Web Site without
graphics, buttons, colors, etc. The information
displayed should be easily recognized by voice output software.
