Computer technology and the Internet have transformed the Library from an organized information warehouse into an organized information dissemination center. CSUDH students and faculty now have access to information anywhere. The Library has also become a place where students can not only do their library research, but surf the Internet, write term papers, check homework assignments, read/send emails, socialize, relax, etc.
The Library has well-trained and eager librarians and staff available to help and teach users. |
The Online Catalog has replaced the Card Catalog

The Library currently provides access to more than 85 article databases which cover a wide variety of subject areas. These article databases are used to search and identify articles.
The Library also subscribes to over 26,000 electronic journal/magazine titles and 1,000 print/microform journals/magazines.

Online Reference databases and electronic books are available along with print reference books. Users can choose either print reference books or electronic reference books/databases to find specific answers.

In the near future, the Library will convert print reserve materials into electronic format. Electronic Reserves will allow users to read materials online from anywhere. |

The Library is making every effort to remedy budget shortages by offering several service options to help users identify and locate books and articles from other libraries. The Library also loans books and articles to other libraries.

The Archives & Special Collection Department houses the University's history files, including the CSU Historical Archives, Rancho Dominguez family companies, etc. The Department houses an enormous wealth of primary research materials as well as several thousand rare books.
The Archives has recently been awarded a grant from the National Archives to catalog the historical Dominguez Family records.
