Want to use CSUDH Library Databases from your off campus computer???

You're all set if:

1. you're a current CSUDH student, faculty member or staff member.

2. you have one of our recommended browsers installed on your computer:
( Internet Explorer (version 5.5, 6.0 or newer) or Netscape (version 4.8 or newer)
or Firefox (version 1.0 or newer--see Recommended Browsers page for a more complete list)).

3. your browser is set to accept cookies and run JavaScript.

NOTE: If you're an AOL or CompuServe user, please follow this procedure:

- Get online as usual with AOL or CompuServe.

- Click on the icon on your computer desktop for one of the browsers in 2. (above),
and use it as your browser while you access Library journal indexes

(just leave AOL/CompuServe connected and running in the background).

HOW TO FIND CSUDH LIBRARY ELECTRONIC JOURNAL INDEXES and DATABASES:

             - Go to the Library Home Page at http://library.csudh.edu/.
             - Under “Find Library Materials”, click Journal Articles & Electronic Resources.
             - Click Alphabetical List of Journal Article Indexes… or Subject List of Journal Article Indexes….
                and click on the journal article index or electronic resource you need.
             - Whenever you're not on the CSUDH campus, you'll see this login screen:

Welcome to CSU Dominguez Hills

The resources you have requested are available only to authorized CSUDH users (currently employed CSUDH faculty or staff members, or currently enrolled students).

Please enter:
Your Last Name (Example: Smith)
Please also enter:
the 14 numeric characters of your CSUDH ID barcode number

What is a barcode number:
Your barcode ID number is the 14-digit number made up of the 5-digit number
20550 followed by your 9-digit student ID number.

Example: 20550982340006

(please do not use spaces, dashes or hyphens)

Enter your last name and your 14 digit barcode ID# (20550 followed by your
9-digit campus ID number, no spaces or dashes). Then click Submit.

TO FIND ARTICLES ON A TOPIC, enter search terms into the search boxes of the database you logged in to
and click Search.
(Try the tutorial on finding articles about a specific topic at http://library.csudh.edu/HowtoFindArticles.htm).

TO FIND FULL TEXT OF AN ARTICLE, both in print and in electronic form, when no direct link to the full text of an article is visible in your results:

- Click on the blue "Check Availability of Complete Article" icon at the end of any record where it occurs

- Go to the Find a Specific Journal page at

http://0-atoz.ebsco.com.torofind.csudh.edu/home.asp?Id=csudh

TO FIND A SPECIFIC ARTICLE WHEN YOU ALREADY HAVE A CITATION, look for detailed instructions on the
Find a Specific Article page at http://library.csudh.edu/FindSpecificArticle.htm

TO LOCATE AN ARTICLE IN A SPECIFIC JOURNAL, MAGAZINE OR BOOK THAT
THE CSUDH Library does NOT own in any form, you can either:

            --   Request the article through the "Click HERE to request item from another library" prompt
    in the small window that tells you "Full Text of Article is NOT available in CSUDH Library"
OR
-- Go to the Interlibrary Loan Request page at http://library.csudh.edu/ill.htm and fill out and
    submit the appropriate form to request that the item be obtained for you from another library
OR
- -   Go to the Library Online Catalogs and Information page at http://library.csudh.edu/cyberlib/libraries.htm where websites of other academic or large public libraries
are listed (you can check their online catalogs or even visit them in person when practical).

Remember that items requested through interlibrary loan usually take
AT LEAST A WEEK OR MORE to arrive!!!
